Kimball C-Squad battle B-B-E and Pierz

·

Tuesday, Feb. 14, the C-squad traveled to Brooten to take on B-B-E. We played a relatively good first half as we found ourselves down 24-18. In the first half, we were able to get the ball in the post and do some damage. However, things changed quickly in the second half as our shooting went ice cold and our defense got a little lazy. We gave the Jaguars way too many second-chance points as we were caught staring at the basket instead of finding a man to block out. The final score was 44-28. Scoring for the Cubs was Brian Binsfeld 12, Noah Young 7, Michael Stern 4, Ruben Overdevest 3, and Tyler Stang 2.

Friday, Feb. 17, the Cubs hosted Pierz in the final home game of the season. The Cubs battled hard but fell to the Pioneers by a score of 47-38. We played much better than the first time we played them when we lost 59-31. We were down 23-18 at halftime, but stormed back by going on a 7-0 run to take a 25-23 lead 3 minutes into the second half. After that it was a back and forth half as it was within a few points all the way until the last few minutes. This is when we were forced to start fouling, and Pierz did not miss many free throws. This made the lead balloon to 9 which was the final margin. I was impressed with how the boys came out in the second half and battled back against a good squad. Scoring for the Cubs was Brian Binsfeld 18, Noah Young 6, Michael Stern 6, Jack Knaus 4, and Tyler Stang 2.
