The City of Kimball and 47 community members participated in celebrating Minnesota Cities Week Wednesday, Oct. 8 The theme this year was “City Government: Serving Citizens 24/7.” This event was held for the citizens of Kimball to learn more about the programs and services provided by the city. The event was designed to introduce the employees who deliver day-to-day services. The police were represented by Chief Todd Rohloff and officers Brian Stiles and Jim Frilstad. Fire and Rescue was represented by Chief Tom Ehlinger and Bob Erickson. Public Works employee Dan Dawson was in attendance, as was public librarian Carla Asfeld. Chris Jeppesen and Dianne Robinson were on-hand representing zoning and administration, respectively. Building inspector Kyle Christensen was also present at the event. Information on these aspects of the city was provided with handouts, a tour of the fire truck and gifts for kids were given. The City of Kimball served a dinner of sloppy joes, chips, cookies, coffee and pop. The food and supplies were donated by Gohmann’s SuperValu, CashWise Foods, Pan O’Gold, Bernicks Pepsi, Mayor Karla Davis, Dianne Robinson and Chris Jeppesen. Jason Cleveland won the “Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin” contest by guessing 20 pounds, 4 ounces. The actual weight was 20 pounds, 10 ounces.
