Two of Kimball’s six VEX Robotics teams participated in the VEX World 2023 competition in Dallas, Texas, last week: one from the high school, and one from middle school. Out of more than 20,000 teams across the globe, these two teams were among the elite that were invited to the World 2023 tournament. There were only nine high school teams from Minnesota at Worlds.
This is the culmination of an exciting season for Kimball’s Robotics teams, a season that began with sponsoring the -second-largest robotics tournament in Minnesota with 123 teams from around the state, back in January. The teams earned several awards during the competitive season, and all six of Kimball’s teams were invited to the state tournament which resulted in two teams making it to the World championship last week.
It was certainly a community effort, raising the funds needed to send the teams to Dallas.
Once there, the high school team struggled among some very tough teams from around the world. They finished second and eighth.
The middle school team finished the tournament at sixth and fourth, and placed 26th in their division. This puts them in the top 200 or so teams in the world.
One of Kimball’s elementary robotics teams is competing this week at the world championship.
Coach Kevin Kieke congratulates all the Kimball Robotics teams for their great season. And he is grateful for all the support, from parents, the schools, and the community.
