Cubs vs HL-W-W Lakers
The Cubs took on HL-W-W Lakers Tuesday night, Jan. 10. The game started out with the Cubs taking an early 3-2 lead until the Lakers went on a 13-0 run which the Cubs were unable to answer. The Cubs went into the half down 15-30. The Cubs had a better second half and fought hard all the way to the end, as Carl Blanchard stole a pass and converted the lay-up in the final seconds of the game. However, the big first half deficit ended up being too much to overcome for the Cubs, and they ended up falling 31-51 to the Lakers. Riley Miller led the Cubs in scoring with 11, Noah Jurek had 9, Jevonte Victor had 7, and Carl Blanchard and Thomas Pearson each contributed 2 of their own.
Kimball Cubs vs B-B-E Jaguars
The Cubs took on B-B-E Thursday night Jan. 12. The Cubs came out of the gates ready to play and jumped out to 11-0 lead. B-B-E answered with a run of their own bringing the game to a close 16-15. The Cubs were able to end the half on a good note and took a 25-20 lead into halftime. The second half turned out to be a battle that saw several lead changes and the game staying within a few points most of the half. The final two minutes had four lead changes with B-B-E going up one with 44 seconds left until with 25 seconds to go Noah Jurek scored to give cubs a one-point lead. The Cubs followed that with two big defensive stops and Chase Gustafson securing the rebound, getting fouled, and converting the two free throws to secure the win for the Cubs with a final score 43-40. The Cubs were led in scoring by Noah Jurek with 12 points and Riley Miller and Jevonte Victor both had 8.
