Kimball Elementary School track and field day

Kimball Elementary School students in grades 4-6 participated in the annual Track and Field Day Monday, May 17. Students were welcomed to the event by Physical Education teachers Mr. Strand and Mrs. O’Brien. The morning consisted of eight stations: 100- and 200-meter races, long jump, high jump, shot put and discus. There were also two break stations: one in which to play basketball or nerf football, and one in which students could enjoy pop and ice cream provided by Partners in Education. Students ate lunch on the home side of the football bleachers, and then participated in the 4×100 relay races which finished off the day. Girls and boys from each grade level were chosen to represent their classes in the relay. All of the races were close, and the stands were full of classmates cheering for their peers. “The students came ready to have fun and do their best, even though the weather was not great to begin with. As the clouds gave way to sun mid-morning, it turned into a great day,” Mr. Strand said. “I would like to thank Mr. Clark and the teachers for all of their help and support. I would also like to thank the members of the high school track team for their help. They did a super job, and without their help the day would not be possible. Thank you, also, to the members of the P.I.E. group for the ice cream and pop.” See photo gallery for more pictures from track and field day.
