Kimball Express derailed

·

Friday night the Kimball Express fell short to the hot Luxemburg Brewers 6-4 as they bowed out of Region 11C play ending a good season. The Brewers had one good inning as they plated six runs in the fourth inning with two outs. Express starter Pat Arnold got in a jam in the fourth after a hit, a bunt single and a walk loaded the bases. Arnold struck out the next two batters and had the Brewers Pete Klaverkamp on the ropes down 0-2. Klaverkamp fouled off some tough pitches before turning on an inside fastball to jump start the six run inning for the Brewers. That was all it took as the Express offense continued its woes at the plate as they were unable to string any hits together. They did make a game of it getting it to within two runs at 6-4 but never really threatened the Brewers as they moved in tournament play. Rail Report The Express finish the season with a 22-9 record overall. They would like to thank everyone from ticket takers to concession stand workers and a big thank you to the voice of the Express Andy Dingman who took care of announcing home games and playing music. Everyone who helped with the field maintenance this summer and a big thank you to manager Tom Marquardt who puts his heart and soul into the game every year whether it be on the field or off the field he is always giving 110 percent. The Express also thank draftees Mitch Denne and Paul Schreiner as their play was very instrumental in region action for the Express. Until next season, happy fishing, hunting or whatever that hobby may be when it’s not baseball season. Patrick Arnold
