Kimball FFA ends a great year

FFA banquet The Kimball Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter celebrated its 66th annual chapter banquet Monday, May 17. With more than 230 guests from the community and the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Eden Valley-Watkins, and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City FFA Chapters in attendance, it was a huge crowd. At the banquet the FFA celebrated its successes over the past year and gave recognition to those who went “above and beyond” in and for the chapter. Opening the banquet was the 2003-04 officer team. A welcoming address was given by President Chris Sheehan and invocation by Sentinel Aaron Dahlinger. After the meal, degrees of membership were awarded by Erich Deutsch and Janelle Kuechle. The Snow Daze skit was played and chapter historian Diana Donnay awarded the Career Development Awards. Chapter secretary Amelia Hentges awarded letters. To letter in FFA a person must earn at least 70 points in the chapter. Eric Sawatzke, the 2003-04 State Vice President was the keynote speaker for the evening. He talked about leadership and “fishing.” Awards Other events of the night included parent appreciation, a video review of the 2003-04 FFA year, and the Blue and Gold award which was given to Mr. (Joe) Stangle for his support to the chapter both in and out of the school system. President Chris Sheehan gave his presidential retirement address. Other awards were as follows: o Leadership awards to Brandi Schiefelbein and Erich Deutsch; o Scholarship award to Henry Loebertmann; o Hokkala Memorial award to Chris Sheehan; o GPA awards to Erich Deutsch and Jamie Hanson; o Star Greenhand award to John Hanley; and o Joel Berscheid Memorial to Henry Loebertmann. Overall the night went great. A new officer team was installed for next year, entering into a new era in chapter history. 2004-05 officer team The 2004-05 officer team is as follows: President Erich Deutsch, Vice-President Aaron Dahlinger, Secretary Whitney Thielman, Treasurer Amanda Schiefelbein, Reporter Chris Sheehan, Sentinel John Hanley, Historian Diana Donnay, Parliamentarian Amelia Hentges, and Officer at Large Brandi Schiefelbein. Upcoming events Events to watch for in June include: o SGLC – June 14-18. o Chapter meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the back of Kimball Elementary School. o Chapter attending St. Cloud Riverbats game. Gametime is at 7:05 p.m., June 23, in St. Cloud. o RLC – June 28.
