Kimball FFA’s Food Science Team recently competed at their State competition. The team consisting of Austin Kunkel, Bryce Lindberg, Izaak Theis, and Jackson Fink won the competition. Jackson Fink was also overall-high individual, and Austin was fifth-high in the state.
For this competition, the teams are tested on food science knowledge, smell identification, taste, math calculations, sanitation identification, and customer complaints. After the individual testing, the team comes together and has an hour to develop a food product meeting specific details given to them in a scenario. This team had to develop a unique popcorn product within nutritional requirements.
Kimball will advance to the National competition in October.
