Kimball finally hires new deputy clerk

·

City clerk Nicole Pilarski has been running the city’s office on her own since November 2021. And it’s been a hard year and a half. Fortunately, the vacant deputy clerk position will soon be filled.

Allison Hansen of South Haven was selected from among four candidates. She is scheduled to start in that part-time job on Monday, March 6.

At the Feb. 6 regular meeting of the Kimball City Council, they heard from Ben and Ellie Fox about zoning of land in the city for an agricultural product processing facility. After some discussion, the council decided to table further discussion until the March 6 meeting.

Jamie Norris talked to the council about her desire to have chickens on her property. Chickens are allowed in Kimball, on land that is within an agricultural district, which Norris’s is not. So the city would need to change its ordinance to allow this. (No decision was yet made.)

The council heard from the Kimball Area Historical Society about space within the city hall building. They will continue this discussion at 2:30 Tuesday, Feb. 21, at City Hall. This workshop meeting will also discuss future building needs of the city, including a Public Works building.

The council agreed to do a FALL clean-up day again this year, and not in the spring as usual.

The Kimball City Council live-streams its regular meetings on Facebook, and recordings are available for replay shortly thereafter. Meetings also are open to the public.
