Kimball Fire Department receives grant

CenterPoint Energy Minnegasco recently awarded $9,625 in grants under its Community Partnership Grant Program. “Serving communities involves more than just the products and services we provide. For CenterPoint Energy Minnesgasco it involves a commitment through community, volunteer and charitable programs,” said Tracy Bridge, director of government and public relations. “We strongly believe in supporting the efforts of communities to protect their citizens.” The following communities received grants: Baldwin Township, for fire department emergency lighting; Kimball, for portable radios; Morristown, for firefighting equipment; Olivia, for emergency extraction equipment; and Waconia, for a water rescue mannequin. The Community Partnership Grant Program provides grants to communities for projects that are initiated or sanctioned by a community, are already in the planning stages, and have broad public support. Grant funds are used to leverage local funds and may not exceed 50 percent of the project cost. Communities can apply each year, but priority is given to those that have not previously received funding. Grants are reviewed on a monthly basis.
