Kimball firefighters’ 33rd annual breakfast

Chief, Kimball Area Fire and Rescue Department

Thank you so much, Kimball area residents! Our 33rd annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast was another success. We served 1,147 breakfasts. I personally would like to thank everyone that came and had breakfast. Without you great people, we would be unable to buy some of the equipment that we have. Every year we have our breakfast, we are all amazed at the turnout we get. I am always questioned by other departments on how we get so many people to our breakfasts. I tell them it is simple, we have the best and most supportive people that live in the Kimball area. Also we have a lot of family members that come from other towns, too. And when you put out a great-tasting breakfast, it doesn’t hurt either.

With your support this year, after our Kimball Days fundraising, we should be able to buy three or four new radios at a cost of $2,500 each. Some of you might think that is expensive for a radio and you know what? You’re right. About five years ago we were told that VHF radios would be going away, and we needed to get 800-MHz radios. So, Stearns County applied for a grant for the federal government and received it, so every fire department in Stearns County got a share of that, and each was able to get some radios, but that left us quite a few radios short of what we need to be able to function well on a fire or rescue scene. We still have three trucks that need radios in them, and we need two or more portables. I think, with the support we get from you great people in the next year, we will be able to have what we need. So, thank you, again. I hope everyone left with a full belly and a smile on their faces, knowing they helped their local Fire and Rescue Department.
