Kimball girls drop showdown with Jaguars

The Lady Cubs lost a good battle to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, 54-42, last Friday, Feb. 10. Kimball and BBE split the season series and are ranked Numbers 1 and 2, respectively, in the south half of Section 5A. The Cubs jumped out to an early 10-4 lead with 15 minutes left in the first half, but the Jaguars made a 21-4 run to take a 25-14 advantage with 6:44 left in the first half. By halftime BBE held a 30-24 lead. In the second half the Cubs could not get any closer as BBE played inspired basketball on their home court for their ?Äúparents?Äô night?Äù crowd. The Jags managed to hold a circa 10-point lead most of the second half en route to a 54-42 victory. The Cubs shot below their season average from the field while BBE shot 64 percent on two pointers. Overall, Kimball?Äôs record falls to 18-3 (9-2 CMC) and BBE moves to 15-6 (8-3 CMC).
