In this, our final column for the year, we thank the Tri-County News for featuring our Kimball Golf Club News during this past season of golf at KGC.
As a community organization supported by 375 shareholders, we are a golf club open to the public, with 175 seasonal members, and with more than 15,000 rounds of golf played by members and the public this year.
Managing a golf course requires a great team effort which, at KGC, is led by our General Manager – Golf Professional, Bob Deem. We thank Bob for a great year of overseeing a terrific clubhouse and grounds crew staff (named in this column last week) devoted to customer service for our golfers and care for our golf course.
We also pay tribute to our many volunteers.
From its beginnings in 1968, Kimball Golf Club has benefited from community volunteers for its development and maintenance. The first volunteers were those who brought their own equipment to clear the brush and woods from the rolling hills that became KGC.
Today, that spirit of community volunteerism remains imbedded in the operation of Kimball Golf Club, from those who volunteer their personal skills in the clubhouse and on the golf course and on our committees ?Äì to those who serve on our Board of Directors.
We thank the following KGC golfers whose devotion to the Kimball Golf Club was reflected by their volunteer service this year: Pat Brandt, Kimball (flowers and House Committee)); Donna Heairet, Watkins (House Committee); Bob Kuechle, Maple Lake (tree trimming and House Committee); Jim Stelten, Kimball (construction in the clubhouse); Ken Kunkel (work on tee markers) Jerry Heitz, South Haven (chef and wood working); Craig (Lips) Stelton, Watkins and Dean Pearson, Watkins (concrete work around the clubhouse); Matt Sorenson, St. Joseph (clubhouse); and Bob Vossen, Kimball (weed killing and help in the clubhouse).
As an organization, we are governed by a Board of Directors and Officers, all serving as volunteers: Leo Wirth, Kimball; Bob Vossen, Kimball; Chad Unterberger, Watkins; Rob Swanson, Watkins; Ron Graham, Watkins; Jerry Heitz, Secretary, South Haven; Pat Hill, Treasurer, Annandale; Mark Miller, Vice President, Annandale; and Gene South, President, Annandale.
Our special thanks also to all in the Tri-County communities who enjoyed golf at Kimball Golf Club this year – while generating the financial support to sustain what we believe is the finest golf course in Central Minnesota.
As we close the golf course in a few days, Friday, Oct. 31, we look forward to a great year in 2015 when we hope you will join us for golf at Kimball Golf Club.
