Kimball Cubs vs Maple Lake Irish
The Cubs were home against the Maple Lake Irish Tuesday, Jan. 31. The Cubs were led by their defense and were able to take a close 15-13 lead into halftime. It was a closely fought battle between the two teams.
The second half remained close throughout the game until late in the half when the Cubs were able to continue to get defensive stops and make their free throws late in the game by Chase Gustafson and Riley Miller. The Cubs were able to hold off the Irish and go on to win 40-33.
The Cubs?Äô scoring was led by a balance scoring attack that saw eight different Cubs score: Riley Miller 12, Chase Gustafson 8, Jevonte Victor 8, Casey Gohmann 4, Carl Blanchard 2, Zach Streit 2, Noah Jurek 2, and Thomas Pearson 2.
Kimball Cubs at Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles
The Cubs went to Eden Valley-Watkins Friday night, Feb. 3, to face the Eagles. The Cubs came in shorthanded and were able to battle and hang with the Eagles for most of the first half until the Eagles ended the half with a 3 to go up by 13 points 19-32.
In the second half the pressure and depth of the Eagles was able to get to the Cubs, and the Cubs went cold in the second half. The Cubs were able to get a run at the end as Jake Traurig hit a 3 late in the game, but the Cubs were too late as they fell 39-63.
Scoring for the Cubs was led by Noah Jurek 15, Riley Miller 14, Casey Gohmann 5, Jake Traurig 3, and Thomas Pearson 2.
Kimball Cubs at Lester Prairie Bulldogs
The Cubs traveled to Lester Prairie to take on the Bulldogs Saturday, Feb. 4. The Cubs and Bulldogs were in a close battle the whole game. It started in the first half when both teams had their offense clicking and both teams went into the half with 32.
The second half picked up right where the first half left off as both teams held leads in the second half. The Cubs were able to grab a lead late in the game with Thomas Pearson and rest of the Cubs controlling the glass on both ends out-rebounding the Bulldogs. Late in the game the Cubs were able to put the Bulldogs away by going to the line and converting on the free throws to defeat the Bulldogs 61-53.
The Cubs?Äô great offensive night saw seven different players score with Noah Jurek leading the way with 21, Jevonte Victor 12, Riley Miller 11, Casey Gohmann 8, Thomas Pearson 4, Carl Blanchard 3, and Chase Gustafson 2.
