Kimball wins over Upsala 59-34
Kimball started the game with a 10-0 run by converting defense into offense. They were led by Jevonte Victor who had 13 of his 18 points in the first half. Upsala climbed back into the game with a run of their own. Kimball held a close 3-point lead 22-19 into the half. Kimball came out of the locker room with more intensity on defense, holding Upsala to only 15 points total in the second half. With the strong post-play lead by Cubs?Äô Noah Jurek with 12 of his 15 points coming in the second half, Kimball was able to pull away and never look back as they went on to win the game 59-34.
Kimball JV home opener win against Dassel-Cokato.
The Cubs were in a tough battle in the first half with the D-C Chargers. The Cubs switched to a tough 2-3 zone on defense and held the chargers scoreless for the last three and one-half minutes of the first half, and into the first two minutes of the second half. Cubs were able to take advantage of their strong defense and took a 1-point lead into half time. At one point in the first half, the Cubs were trailing 14 to 21. For the second straight game the Cubs came out in the second half and controlled the game with their defense by only giving up 16 points in the second half. The Cubs offense got rolling by going to the free throw line and converting at the line. As a team, the Cubs were 21 for 32 and were 16 for 22 in the second half alone, out-shooting the Chargers at the line as they were 7 for 16 for the game. The Cubs were able to get 6 different players to the line and were led by Casey Gohmann
7 for 8 and Jake Traurig 3 for 3. With a strong combination of defense, rebounding and getting to the free throw line the Cubs were able to grab the victory over the Chargers 61-37, to go 2-0 on the season.
Kimball JV home against Royalton.
The Cubs found themselves in another close battle early on in the game vs Royalton. With eight and one half minutes remaining in the first half, the Cubs led 14-11. The Cubs were able to use some full-court pressure against Royalton, causing the Royals to turn the ball over, helping the Cubs take a 25-14 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Cubs were able to keep up the full court pressure and with some help from outside shooting from Chase Gustafson and Jevonte Victor, the Cubs were able to run away from the Royals with a 50-30 win. The Cubs were led in scoring by Jevonte Victor with 20 and Riley Miller adding 10 points of his own. The Cubs are 3-0 on the season.
