Kimball JV softball results

After more than a week off, the JV Cubs softball team was thrust back into action with a four-game week. Monday saw the Cubs as the visiting team to host Eden Valley-Watkins. It was a close game, led by Cassandra Loch who batted three-for-four with two runs scored and four stolen bases. Unfortunately, Kimball was only able to come up with two more hits and lost the game, with a final score of 4-6. Tuesday was a home game against Maple Lake. The team saw some talented pitching from the Irish, and lost the game 3-16. A bright spot came from Kendra Albers who scored two runs during the game, with one of those runs coming from the team’s first home run of the year. After one day off for practice, the team again played host on Thursday, this time to Pierz. This was perhaps one of the fastest games of the year, with the six-inning game completed in one hour. Kimball had a fantastic third inning, scoring five runs. Tesslynn Callander led the batters, going two-for-three at the plate. Beth Libbesmeier had six stolen bases during the game, and stole home twice. Kimball won the game 7-5. Kimball was back on the road Friday, this time playing at Litchfield. Offensively, this was the Cubs’ most impressive game of the year thus far, with 17 hits, 35 stolen bases, and 22 runs scored. Kimball won the game 22-14. Kendra Albers batted first, hitting two-for-three, stole six bases and scored four runs. Next up was Cassandra Loch, who batted three-for-three, stole four bases, and scored four runs. Tesslynn Callander went four-for-five at the plate, including a triple and a homerun, stole four bases, and scored three runs. Beth Libbesmeier again had six stolen bases, and batted three-for-four with three runs scored. Both Kristin Kuechle and Sarah Messer batted two-for-three during the game, and Julie Lochen hit her first double of the season. The rest of the team pitched in for the win, with nearly every player scoring at least one run. This week, the Cubs have another busy schedule with five games, including a tournament on Saturday.
