Kimball Komets 16s JO v?Äôball

The Kimball Komets 16s JO volleyball team traveled to St. Joseph Sunday, March 30, for the College of St. Benedict Junior Olympic Volleyball Tournament, their final tournament of the winter season. The Komets started pool play a little slow, but played well enough to place second and advance to the gold division for tournament play.

Game one was with Burnsville Thunder 11-25, 25-22. Game two was against Barnesville Aces 16-25, 25-16. Game three vs ROCORI Heat Red 25-18, 25-15.

They would meet up with the first-place team from the other pool, the ROCORI Heat, Black, (#1 seed in Pool 1). The team came through with good serving, great coverage on defense and awesome set ups for kills. The Komets won the match in two games. 25-22, and 26-24.

The Burnesville Thunder played Central Lakes and came out on top, so the Championship game would be a re-match of the first game of pool play, Thunder vs Komets. The Kimball team played much better than they did in the morning and won two straight by a score of 25-18, 25-15.

The Komets 16s players this season were, Bailey Berscheid, Bailey Broda, Anna Donnay, Becky Holtz, Steph Hurrle, Emma Kuechle, Ariel Laabs, Kenzie
Leither, Caitlin O?ÄôBrien, Amanda Roerick and Maddy Schreifels. They were coached by Tabitha Mortenson.
