The Kimball Krusiers 4-H Club had its Christmas gathering Dec. 6 at the Suburban Health Club near Rockville. The 4-H members had a great time swimming and enjoyed snacks afterwards. The Santa Store was Saturday, Dec. 12, at Kimball City Hall. Many people from the community came to see Santa Claus. They shopped our 4-H Santa Store for new or gently-used items while they sipped hot cocoa and nibbled on Christmas cookies. The money made from the Santa Store went to a family in need. Our club decorated Willow Creek Park with lights and decorations. We hope many people had a chance to see this colorful display, along with the sleigh that was made by 4-H member Matthew Massmann. During the month of December, our club held a Christmas decorations contest for local businesses. The winners were: Hendricks Bus Company – first place; A.M. Maus & Son – second place; and Heritage House of Kimball – third place. The 4-H moms and dads baked cookies to award the contest winners and participants. Thank you to all the businesses who participated. We look forward to seeing more lights in Kimball next year!
Our January meeting was held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, at St. Anne’s Church. To make it interesting, the meeting was backwards. We had snacks first. Then everything was backwards in the meeting, calling the meeting to order last. Alexa Ruehle talked about embroidered dish towels she made, and her sister Paige talked about a crystal radio she made. Good job on project talks! Family Fun Night is March 15 in Litchfield. Casey Gohmann talked about the Santa Store. A lot of people came. They sold a lot of items, and it was fun. Abbey and Shelby Schiefelbein won communication awards at the state level. Congratulations, Abbey and Shelby! Thank you, A.M. Maus & Son, for the good food at the meeting! The next meeting will be at Kimball Fire Hall Feb. 14, where we will learn about safety.
