1,000 Books Before Kindergarten – Ongoing
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading program designed to increase the awareness of early literacy and to encourage parents to embrace their role as their child’s first teacher. Plus there are prizes. This program is ongoing, so you can sign up anytime. No limit, please come to the library to register. Stitchin’ time – 5:30-6:45 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 6, 13, 27
Bring your knitting, crochet, sewing, cross-stitch, quilting, or weave projects to work on at the library and meet others who share your love of fiber arts. All levels of experience are welcome. For adults.
Wet felt diffuser – 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11
Perk up any room with a one-of-a-kind room diffuser. Pick out your favorite colors of loose wool and learn how to create wet felted balls that hold essential oils. Hang them in your car or room to keep the space smelling light and fresh. For ages 13 and up. Limit 15. Registration required. This program was made possible with Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds from Minnesota’s Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.
Buying and selling online basics – 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13
Do you know of online sites that buy and sell items, but are unsure how they work exactly? At this class, you will learn a bit about ebay, Facebook, Marketplace, and Craigslist, and have the opportunity to learn about K-BID Online Auctions from the owner himself. For adults.
Senior fraud preventions and scams – 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15
The old saying an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure could not be truer then when dealing with fraud and scams. This will educate participants on various forms of fraud and scams that could have devastating consequences for a victim and a victim’s family. For adults. Sponsored by Catholic Charities.
Jigsaw puzzle tournament – 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11
Gather a group of four friends to form a team, select a team name and enjoy a morning of puzzling fun.
Tournament rules:
• Each team receives the same puzzle.
• No one sees the puzzle until the timer begins.
• Teams try to put the puzzle together the fastest.
• If there is no declared winner by the end of the time limit, the winner is chosen by the team with the fewest remaining loose pieces.
• In the event of a tie, teams will be given an additional five minutes to work on the puzzle.
• Teams are not allowed to distract or approach team tables when the competition is in progress.
Six-team limit. Register with team name. Ages 12 to adult. Sponsored by the Kimball Area Friends of the Library.
Popcorn and a movie – thru March 20
Spring is nowhere in sight, until then borrow a DVD from our movie collection on Friday or Saturday through March 20 and take home a package of microwave popcorn to enjoy. Sponsored by the Kimball Area Friends of the Library.
