Kimball Lions February meeting update

·

Kimball Lions met on Feb. 17, the scheduled third Monday of the month. The meeting was held at the Library Community Center with President Mike presiding. Thank you to the 18 Lions members who left their warm homes to once again drive in -15º bone-chilling weather – to get our work done. Secretary and Treasurer reports were accepted, and it was announced that our Secretary Jan is stepping down at the end of our June fiscal year.

The old business discussed was the success of the Mid-Winter Convention and Parade of Green for our district 5M8, the upcoming Kimball Community Expo and our booth was discussed, we will scan eyes with the state-of-the-art KidSight equipment, collecting eye glasses and hearing aids. Stop by and check us out along with all the other businesses and grab breakfast by the Methodist Church:
8 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 29, at Kimball Area High School.

New Business discussion on the summer holiday hamburger stands, and miscellaneous items. Our March meeting will be held at the Rod and Gun Club due to the City needing the room while construction is being done on the City Hall. Just maybe April will bring beautiful spring weather and we will be back to the Willow Creek Park shelter.

You may ask, “What do Lions do?”

Lions Clubs have offered people the opportunity to give back to their communities through service and fundraising. From involving members in projects, helping with local -community needs, student support, fire victims, or as far reaching as bringing sight to the world’s blind, those with diabetes, children’s cancer center, and so much more. Lions Clubs have always embraced those committed to being involved and living in their community.

• Lions programs are continually changing to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission has never wavered. It still is “We Serve.”

• Lions make a difference in people’s lives.

• Lions help people to make their lives better.

• Lions members and Clubs have an impact in their local community and around the world.

• After accepting Helen Keller’s challenge in 1925, the Lions’ major programs were sight, hearing, and diabetes.

• Since the, Lions have refined, developed, and added additional programs in fulfillment of our motto “We Serve.” Building a brighter future for their community.
