April and May meetings
Kimball Lions met for their April and May meetings with minutes by our secretary Jan Schmitz. Meetings were held at our local Willow Creek Lions Park Shelter with President Sarah presiding.
We had four groups as guests: the Kimball Robotics, Kimball Scouts, High School Trap, and Kimball Days event coordinators.
Our old business was discussed, looking at getting some new Lions logo T-shirts, and the -recycle plastic bag program has begun. The collecting sites are at Diva’s, Kimball Post Office, and Kimball Library; also looking to add a box at A.M. Maus & Son. Please drop off your clean plastic bags, (hint: if the plastic doesn’t stretch and is crunchy sounding, it is not accepted as a recyclable item).
We had our golf tournament Saturday, May 20, with great success once again. Chair Brian headed this up with 25 teams, and many Lions volunteers helping.
The Lions will have their 16th annual 5K on Saturday morning, Aug. 12, during Kimball Days. Proceeds will go to the Jeremiah Zwack memorial. We will also serve our amazing pancake breakfast on Sunday morning during Kimball Days.
Voting took place for our upcoming 2023-2024 officers. They are President Sarah, 2nd Vice Michael, 3rd Vice Nora, Membership Brian, Treasurer Dan, Secretary Jan, Marketing Nora, and Mary, LCIF Nick, 1st year Board Wayne and Steve, and 2nd year Board Dave and Jeff. Thank you everyone for stepping up to these positions.
April KidSight report was 12 preschoolers with two being referred; thank you Dana for taking this on.
City entrance welcome sign areas for upkeep is West side – Wayne and Linda, North side – Dan and Tammy, South side – Mary and Ken, East side – Rose and Ed.
Nora contacted local businesses and all 15 signs at the Willow Creek Lions Park trail have a local business sponsor. This will be a plus for our beautiful park and visitors to know where to go on the trail. Thank you to our Kimball businesses for supporting us with not only these signs, but also for the golf tournament. Please, readers, support your local businesses, they do so much for our community, and schools, and so much more.
