Kimball man injured in crash

At about 10 p.m. Saturday, July 3, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a crash with injuries at the T-intersection of County Road 44 and County Road 144 in Lynden Township. The caller reported hearing tires squealing and then the sound of a loud crash.

Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup in the ditch. The driver of the truck, Joseph Charles Cleveland, 35 of Kimball, was traveling eastbound on County Road 44 when he failed to stop at the stop sign. He continued eastbound off the roadway, down an embankment, and struck a tree. Cleveland was pinned inside the vehicle and had significant injuries.

The driver needed to be extricated from the vehicle by Annandale Fire Department. Once he was freed from the truck, he was treated on scene by Mayo Ambulance and flown to the hospital by North Memorial Air Care.

Also assisting at the scene was the Annandale Police Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
