The body of a 70-year-old man was recovered from Lake Caroline, Tuesday, July 15. The Stearns County 911 center received a call for assistance at about 7:40 p.m. Rescue personnel from the Kimball Fire Department were sent to Bridgewater Road in Fair Haven. The preliminary autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiners office showed that Robert James Smith died from drowning. Smith’s was discovered in 2 and 1/2 feet of water by his family. No foul play is suspected as Smith had a history of medical problems that could have contributed to the drowning. Details about Smith’s funeral arrangements can be found on page 6.
