Kimball Schools Update for week of April 10

·

Good Day Kimball Cubs and community members. This week is a short week for the students with the Easter Holiday coming up this weekend. It is also tax week as taxes are due on April 18. Don?Äôt forget to get those done. The joke I hear every year is, if you don?Äôt think you?Äôre important, try forgetting to pay your taxes once. So with that said, many things are happening in the school district after the Easter Holiday.

Many of the spring activities are competing now, as long as the weather permits. Next week our robotics team will be heading down to Kentucky to compete in their first world competition. FFA is also competing in many events within their organization to allow them to compete at the state level. Once we start getting results from them, we will get those posted.

Students in both buildings have been taking MCA tests these past two weeks. The state of Minnesota has all of the testing done online so we are able to get preliminary data as students complete the tests. Up to this point, students are doing extremely well and look to improve from last year?Äôs results that were well above state and local averages. Staff and students hope to continue that trend to showcase how exceptional the education and programs are here in Kimball. I also want to mention how exceptional the parents are as well. The success our students have is attributed to the help adults give them as well as the programs we offer. I look forward to sharing results once they are complete and we are given the green light to post the results.

I would also like to mention that the school has a new survey out for parents and those who use our facilities. We are always trying to look for improvements that can fit into our budget as well as overall improvements on our service. If you get a chance, go to the school district website. On the home page you will find on the right side of the page a link under the live feed, ?ÄúHow Are We Doing.?Äù Just click on that link and you will be directed to the online survey. The questions this year are more specific to each area within each building. Thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey.

One other note, we have our quarterly District Advisory Committee meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, April 24, in the district office. The committee is looking for any parents or community members who would be interested in being a part of this group. If you go on the school district website and click on the district office tab, there is a link that takes you to the District Advisory Page. On that page, it gives you a description of why the school district has this group as well as past minutes of meetings so you can have an idea of what gets discussed at the meetings. It is a great way to give feedback, ask questions, and provide insight as we continue to strive for the best.

This is all I have for this week. Good luck Robotics and show the world the great minds in Kimball. Have a great Easter. GO CUBS!
