As of their Feb. 19 meeting, the Kimball School Board had received 16 applications for superintendent, the position to begin with the 2014-15 school year. The field of candidates has been narrowed to the top 10, and six will be interviewed next Tuesday and Wednesday. The new superintendent should be in place to start July 1.

Dennis Abernathy requested a third year of leave of absence; he is currently teaching in Dassel-Cokato. The board declined his request, stating that he is welcome to apply for any job in the district, like anyone else.

Laurie Hunt, long-time high school secretary, will begin phasing in retirement, starting July 1.

Kathy Ahlrich was hired as part-time elementary secretary starting March 1; Mary Faber is phasing in her retirement, and Kathy will fill that position.

The board?Äôs budget committee  will meet in April and May to discuss proposed budget cuts and create a reduction timeline.

The next board meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19. Meetings are open to the public.
