Kimball seventh-grade baseball goes 1-1-1 last week

The Kimball seventh-grade baseball team traveled to EV-W and hosted ACGC last week ending the week 1-1-1, bringing the team’s early season record to 2-2-1. The boys played very well in the first game against EVW, scoring 12 runs on 5 hits and 12 walks, including a home run by Nolan Diedrich, and doubles by both Amery Bollman and Gavin Pelzer.
Nolan Diedrich, Amery Bollman and Jack Schiefelbein handled the pitching for the Cubs, giving up two runs on three hits, plus they did a great job throwing strikes, giving up only one walk throughout the game.
The second game against EV-W was a high-scoring game with the Cubs losing 15-12 in three innings. It was a great game to give the boys the opportunity to play new positions, including getting some experience pitching for both teams. The Cubs had eight hits and seven walks with Boone Nordling, Nolan Diedrich and Jackson Wagner hitting doubles and Teyton Mesenbrink getting his first hit of the season.
Jack Schiefelbein, Teddy Fox and Teddy Adolph pitched for the Cubs, and we are looking forward to them getting more experience on the mound through the rest of the season.
The boys hosted ACGC on Thursday in a rain-shortened game ending in a 8-8 tie. The Cubs jumped out to an early lead on Nolan Diedrich’s home run with both Marcus Loehrer and Teddy Adolph on base.
ACGC came back over the next few innings, scoring eight runs, but the Cubs answered with five runs in the last inning for the tie.
Aidan Huhn and Marcus Loehrer started the third inning comeback with walks, and Nolan Diedrich, Boone Nordling, Amery Bollman, and Gavin Pelzer all got hits, setting the stage for Teyton Mesenbrink’s game-tying hit to end the game. The boys did a great job battling back to get the tie after being ahead early, and then giving up the lead in the top of the third inning.
Nolan Diedrich and Amery Bollman handled the pitching duties with Marcus Loehrer doing a great job catching for the Cubs.
