Kimball softball suffers three losses
Royalton wins Kimball Invitational Royalton won its two games versus Kimball and Ashby on Saturday, May 3, at Pearl Lake. The first game of the Kimball invitational featured Royalton against Kimball. Royalton’s Gleisner threw a two-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts as they went on to win 11-0. Royalton only had six hits, but Kimball had five errors. Game two pitted Royalton against Ashby. Royalton had to come back in the sixth inning to win 12-10. Game three paired Ashby against Kimball. In a three-hour marathon, Kimball scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 20-19. Adrian Rossman, who started in the first game against Royalton, came back in for Eric Voigt to pitch the last four innings for the win. Kimball pounded out 17 hits. Leading the way for the cubs was Mark Krippner who was four for five with four runs scored and two doubles. Kyle Wurm was two for three with a homerun. Kyle Winter was three for six with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Joe Masberg was four for five with a homerun, a double, three runs scored and four RBIs. Eden Valley-Watkins versus Kimball – Tuesday, May 6 EV-W defeated the Cubs 4-2 at the Pearl Lake field, thanks to strong pitching from Aaron Dockendorf. Aaron Rossman took the loss after pitching nearly eight innings and giving up four earned runs. EV-W had fourteen hits and scored three times in the eighth inning to take the lead for good. A double by Kummet with two outs in the top of the eighth scored Tomsche and Hennen. Kimball tried to come back in the bottom of the eighth with a lead-off homerun by Mark Krippner, but the Cubs stranded two runners in scoring position for the tie. Rockford versus Kimball – Thursday, May 8 At Rockford, Kimball came back from an 8-4 deficit in the sixth to take an 11-8 lead, however, timely hitting and untimely walks allowed Rockford to come away with the win, 12-11. Upcoming schedule Kimball plays St. John’s Prep at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15. The last home game is against Howard Lake-Waverly at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 19, in Pearl Lake.
