The now 11-3 Lady Cubs looked sharp and finished the week on a roll. Taking on Pierz, Thursday, May 11, Kimball swept a twin bill, 4-2 and 13-1. Kimball?Äôs Mackenzie Leither led the offensive attack for the day. She pounded out two round-trippers and a double in both games. Teammate Katie Spaulding took the spotlight in the second game, smashing a pair of homers and driving in five runs. Emily Utecht pitched game one, surrendering just two hits, striking out seven and walking a pair.
Game two?Äôs winner Katie Merchant, threw all six innings, fanning seven hitters and walking just one. The Kimball girls kept things rolling, as they shut out Paynesville on Friday, May 12, by a 16-0 final tally.
