Kimball Area Public School District’s Resource Officer Deputy Sheriff Brian Theisen, facilitated the free Stearns County Sheriff’s Department Summer Youth Safety Camp Tuesday, June 21, at the Warner Lake County Park in Clearwater. Kimball had 13 students attend the educational camp.
Members from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, the Clearwater Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources covered a wide variety of topics, including fire safety, water safety, wildlife and gaming, why and how drones are used, how K-9 officers train and utilize their dogs, and much more.
“I hope all of the kids enjoyed the day and learned a few things about safety,” said Deputy Theisen. “Thank you to all of the kids who attended.”
Stearns County Sheriff’s Department offered another camp Thursday, June 23, in Paynesville and will offer two more Summer Youth Safety Camps this summer Tuesday, July 12, in Sauk Centre and Wednesday, July 13, at Veteran’s Park in Holdingford.
Each camp is limited to 30 students, ages 8-12. Food and refreshments are provided by the Sheriff’s Department staff during the camp. Theisen can be reached at brian.theisen@co.stearns.mn.us regarding registrations.
