Kimball to set assessments for Hwy. 15 project

The Kimball city council will meet following a public hearing Tuesday evening, Nov. 16, to set assessment rates for the upcoming Highway 15 project set to begin in February. (This will be the day after the Tri-County News goes to press, so we’ll have to report on that next week.) The council held a special meeting Nov. 8 to discuss the assessment, but only two members were present so no decisions could be made that night.

The Highway 15 project has already been postponed for two years, but it is already in the works for 2022. The cost of replacing utilities (water and sewer) along Highway 15 is estimated at $527,750 which will be assessed, at least in part, to property owners along the highway where the improvements will be made (from Highway 55 to just south of the railroad tracks). The city will determine how much, if any, of that amount it can pay from its water fund for that portion of the project.

This meeting will be both live-streamed and available later for viewing on the city’s Facebook page.

The next regular meeting of the Kimball city council will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7.
