Kimball varsity VB defeats HLWW 3-0

·

Thursday, Oct. 8, the Kimball varsity volleyball team took the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers in three sets. The Cubs started out aggressively swinging and serving, pushing themselves to an early lead. Their energy on the floor and on the bench carried them even when they made a few unforced errors. The Cubs took the first set 25-17. The girls started the second set with lots of energy as well, but fell out of their rhythm because of too many unforced errors, and thus they fell behind. However, the Lady Cubs battled back, pushing confidently and aggressively to take the set 27-25. The final set of the game went a bit more smoothly, as they fought off a scrappy Laker defense. The Cubs finished the final set 25-22. Stat leaders for the evening included Rachel Lahr with three ace serves and 13 kills, Steph Konz and Tesslynn Callander each with eight kills, Molly Hurrle with 26 set assists and Kelly Mackereth with seven total blocks. The Cubs will be playing BBE Tuesday, Oct. 13, on the road at 7:30 p.m.
