The Cubs are Section 4A champions, after defeating section and conference foe (and #3 state-ranked) Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, 34-21, in a major upset!

“Our guys wrestled tough, up and down the lineup, and I was proud of the attitude, effort, and belief they displayed. A big reason why we won the dual was Jack Bollman pinning Edwyn Gonzalez (he is ranked top 5 in the state)!” exclaimed Coach David Joseph.

The Kimball boys also conquered Section 1 champion Zumbrota-Mazeppa, 35-23; to advance to the Class A Minnesota state championship semi-finals, which takes place at St. Michael-Albertville High School, on March 27. It has been nine years since Kimball Cubs wrestlers made it to State as a team. They are guaranteed at least fourth place in this year’s tournament.

The Cubs return to action this week in the section 4A individual tournament (Wednesday in Kimball); as well as the individual super-section tournament in Rochester on Saturday.
