The Cubs picked up their eighth win of the season against Lester Prairie 63-15. Peter Jonas led the Cubs getting his first varsity win and pin at Hwt. Others getting pins for the Cubs were Brandon Hurrle (189), Blaine Lemke (135), Jeremy Dahnke (152), Brady Knaeble (160) and Tom Libbesmeier (171). Picking up forfeits for Kimball were Kyle Winter (215), David Dahnke (112), Chris Sheehan (119) and Luke Deutsch (145). Gary Samela (125) also picked up a win. Kimball took third place in the Kimball Duals losing their semi-final match by a score of 36-26 to Atwater Cosmos Grove City(ACGC). The Falcons came out ready to wrestle taking a 21-0 lead before Kimball got a pin from Blaine Lemke (135). ACGC retaliated with a pin at 1409 before Nic Anders (145) picked up his first varsity win of the year. ACGC picked up a big win in double-overtime at 152. Brady Knaeble(160) picked up a win followed by a pin by Tom Libbesmeier (171) along with a win by Brandon Hurrle (189). ACGC forfeited to Kyle Winter (215) and bumped their rated wrestler up to Hwt. to get the pin. In the match for third place the Cubs came out with a more aggressive attitude and thumped Sauk Rapids-Rice 57-23. Getting pins for Kimball were David Dahnke (1120, Erich Deutsch (130), Luke Deutsch (140), Jeremy Dahnke (152), Brady Knaeble (160), Tom Libbesmeier (171), Brandon Hurrle (189) and Kyle Winter (215). Going undefeated on the day were Blaine Lemke, Brady Knaeble, Tom Libbesmeier, Brandon Hurrle and Kyle Winter. Final standings for Kimball Duals were First, St. James 36-ACGC 29; Third, Kimball 57- Sauk Rapids-Rice 23; Fifth, Eden Valley-Watkins 39-Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 36; Seventh, Ogilvie. The JV did very well in their individual tournament. First place winners were Jacob Kiecke (90), Chris Barthel (130), John Hanley (135), Jeremy Vinar (140), Steve Landwehr (145) and Aaron Dahlinger (160). Third Place finishers were Andy Diffley (171), Ryan Nutter (189) and Travis Winkleman (Hwt.). Fourth place winners were Zach Mackereth (125), Josh Kiecke (152), Dylan Kaskinen (171), Josh Evers (189) and Ricky Diffley (Hwt.) The coaching staff and wrestlers would like to give a big thank-you to all the workers who helped with the tournament. Special thanks to EV-W for letting us use their mat and the Kimball Wrestling Alumni, Booster Club and Gohmann’s Super Valu for the food in the coach and referee room.
