Kimball wrestling awards banquet

The Kimball wrestling team hosted their annual awards banquet at the Joseph Preserve just northwest of Kimball Saturday April 12. Pizza and root beer floats were on the menu as the wrestlers and their families enjoyed an evening of fun. Tanner Meierhofer received the Most Improved Award along with receiving the Most Pins Award with 22 pins. Tanner’s 22 pins set a new school record for pins in a season. Luke Schiefelbein received the Most Valuable award with a 26-7 record and a state tournament appearance. The Iron Man award went out to Derek Orbeck, Anthony Laabs and Zach Hedlund. The Cubs had four individuals receive All-Conference honors. Freshman Tyler Kuechle and junior Luke Schiefelbein won first team All-Conference honors and eighth-grader Travis Schiefelbein and freshman Tanner Meierhofer won second team honors. Senior Pavel Sizikov won Academic All-Conference honors.   The Kimball Wrestling Booster Alumni Award went to Kevin Kieke. Kevin has helped out with Kimball elementary wrestling program for 15 years. He has also helped out with several wrestling events and the wrestling booster club. The Kimball wrestlers and coaches would like to give a special thanks to the Kimball wrestling boosters for the pizza and awards, J B Liquor for the donation of the root beer, Doug Joseph and family for the use of their facility and all the parents who helped make the banquet a success.
