Kimball youth play well at home

5th-grade boys’ basketball The 5th-grade Cubs played three excellent games on Saturday. The first game was a closely contested match with several Cubs getting buckets. Unfortunately, Kimball fell to Maple Lake 29-30. In the second game, the Cubs struggled on offense, and eventually fell to Albany 13-24. In their final game, the Cubs faced Dassel-Cokato. this time, the pieces fell into place and the Cubs won 24-14. For the day, almost all of the Cubs managed to score, and the ones who didn’t score still played their best games to date. 6th-grade boys’ basketball The 6th-grade Cubs took third place in the tournament at home Saturday. In the first two games of the day, the boys faced two very strong teams who we weren’t quite ready for that morning. They lost to Albany 13-33 and to Litchfield 20-50. In the afternoon, the Cubs faced Maple Lake for their rubber match, which they won 28-24.  In their final game, the boys faced Dassel-Cokato. After jumping out to a first half lead, we let them back in the game and snuck out with a narrow victory by the score 31-30. Both teams play next in the Glencoe tournament Saturday, March 10.
