Kimball Youth Wrestling participates in several meets and tournaments

Norwood-Young America
On Feb. 2, Tyler Kuechle, Nate VanVleet, Justin Kuechle and Josh Almgren traveled to Norwood Young America for a match. Third-grader Tyler Kuechle beat both of his opponents to take first in his age group. Nate won his first match to take second place. Fifth-grader Justin Kuechle pinned his second opponent to take first, as did Josh Almgren.
ACGC
On Feb. 9, five wrestlers traveled to ACGC. Nate VanVleet placed third, Tanner Meierhofer took fourth, as did Jamie Krantz. Tyler Kuechle and Josh Almgren both had to pins to take first.
Glencoe/Silver Lake
Six kids traveled to Glen-coe/Silver Lake. Cody Weiland took fourth place; Olivia and Emily Straley both took third; Jacob Kieke placed second, and Timmy Kohz and Matthew Donnay both placed first.
Truman
On Sunday, Feb. 10, two young wrestlers traveled to Truman. Preschooler Tony Paskewitz had his first pin to take third place and Nate VanVleet took third with two pins in his age division.
Foley open
The Foley open was also held on Feb. 10. Kindergartner Jade Frank took second place; firstgrader Timmy Konz took first. Second-grader Alex Thurber took third; third-grader Tyler Kuechle took second; fifth-grader Josh Almgren took first and sixth-graders Jamie Krantz and Jacob Kieke took fourth and first, respectively.
Paynesville open
On Feb. 17, sixteen wrestlers participated in the Paynesville open. Preschooler Logan Schlueter took fourth. Kindergartner Matthew Donnay took first place again this week turning in two wins. First-graders Jade Frank, Austyn Schlueter, and Travis Wills placed third. Timmy Konz wrestled in the grade two class to turn up the competition and answered the call taking first place. Alex Thurber, second grade, had a good day with two wins for first place. Third graders Jimmy Laabs and Tyler Kuechle pinned both of their opponents to take first place. Nate VanVleet took fourth place with two very close matches.
The fourth- through sixth-graders wrestled round-robins, giving them one extra match. Fourth-grader Patrick Libbes-meier took second place, pinning two opponents. Sixth-grader, Jacob Kieke won his first match and placed third in the tournament. Derek Orbeck lost his first match, but came back to stick the next two opponents and take second place. Andrew Huhn had a great tournament, pinning all three of his opponents and taking first place. Overall it was a good day for the team with 24 wins and 13 pins.
Thanks once again to all the parents, alumni and board members who helped with the Kimball open and made it very successful. A huge thanks goes out to Kenny and Dawn Kuechle who were inadvertently left off the list last week. All of you youth wrestlers make us proud.
