Kimball’s matmen head to the ‘big city’

The Kimball wrestling team headed east towards the Twin Cities as the Cubs took on two class AAA schools St. Cloud Tech and Eden Prairie. The triangular took place just before Christmas and Kimball went 1-1 on the evening losing to Tech 31-39 and beating Eden Prairie 42-36. Picking two wins on the night were Tyler Kuechle at 103, Tanner Meierhofer at 112 both by pins, Travis Schiefelbein at 125 and 130, Senior Ronnie Antiel at 135 and 140, Junior Luke Schiefelbein at 171 both by pins, and Senior Anthony Laabs at 189. Picking up one win on the night both that were key matches against Eden Prairie were seventh grader Timmy Konz, who got his first varsity win and pin of his career at 119 and junior Zach Hedlund, who won a close 6-3 match. The Cubs showed up to wrestle and were not intimidated by the much bigger schools, even tough they were giving up two forfeits in the first match against Tech and three forfeits in the second match against Eden Prairie. For the JV it was Senior Pavel Sizikov who picked up two pins to improve his record to 5-2. Eighth grader Luke Serbus also picked up his first win on the season the night before.
