Kimball’s volleyball C-team loses to EV-W

·

The Cubs fell to the Eagles in three games. Scores were: 22-25; 25-15 and 10-15. It could have gone our way, but the Eagles were a scrappy team and played up almost everything we tried against them. We played a solid hitting and serving match, but it wasn’t enough against the Eagles. They also found some of our holes by tipping most of the time.Game highlights include:

Set attempts – Kenadi Mackereth 12 and 3 assists; Tiffany Kuechle 25 and 6 assists;

Kills – Breane Meierhofer 7; Paiten Schreiner 4 and 2 blocks;

Serves – Kenadi Mackereth 11/11 and 1 ace; Kaylee Petty 8/8 and 1 ace; Breane Meierhofer 11/12 and 5 aces; Paiten Schreiner 6/7 and 1 ace; Tiffany Kuechle 5/6; Laura Frank 8/10 and 3 aces.

C-Team VB takes second at Irish Tournament

Kimball competed at the Irish Volleyball Tournament in Maple Lake on Sat. Oct. 3 The tournament was set up with 2 divisions:

Black Division Green Division

EV-W Kimball

St. Cloud Apollo Zimmerman

Maple Lake Annandale

Litchfield Howard Lake

The first round for the Cubs began with a tough Annandale team and Kimball was a little sleepy to start and lost game one 6-25. They came back in game two, but lost again 20-25. The young Cubs then decided that was going to end and brought their A game to their next match against a very tough Howard Lake-Waverly. The Cubs wanted a medal. The Lakers, however, were thinking the same and took game one from the Cubs 20-25. Kimball put their foot down and came back to win games two and three, with scores of 25-15 and 25-12. The Cubs were now on a roll and took on Zimmerman and defeated them in two games by scores of 25-19 and 25-14.

This brought the Cubs to the back door of the medal round. They took second in their division, so had to go up against Litchfield, who took first in their division. The Cubs WON!! They beat the Dragons in three very close games, losing the first, but then using their skills to win the next two. Scores were: 12-25; 25-23 and 16-14. Now the Cubs were back to facing the Annadale Cardinals once again with their goal to defeat them and win the tournament.
