Volunteer members of the Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post #483 and Auxiliary visited the St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center Monday, Feb. 23. Ruby Justison, Alice Von Ende, Dorothy Jensen and Ann Hamilton assisted with the monthly birthday party for veterans in Building 51. Veterans activities director Amy Kendell was present to play the piano. The veterans and visitors sang old-time and patriotic songs. Veterans with February birthdays were Walter H., Eugene D., Richard T., Earl B., Tony G. and Jim L. The Kingston Auxiliary volunteers served refreshments to about 28 veterans and guests. Bars and cookies were furnished by Ann Hamilton as part of the Home Field Service Program. The veterans enjoyed the afternoon of activities. Monthly meeting The auxiliary members of the Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post #483 met Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Kingston Community Center. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Judy Compton in the absence of President Sandi Smith. Chaplain Pearl Haapajoki led prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. Roll call was taken and the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were given by Treasurer Mary Jane Arens. Reports were given on volunteer members going to the St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center. New business discussed included the annual reports to be filled out and handed in at the March meeting. The annual “March, American Legion Birthday Month” pot-luck dinner will take place at 6:30 p.m., with business meetings to follow at 7:30 p.m. The Kingston American Legion Annual Fish Fry was set for Friday evening, March 26. Auxiliary members assist the legion with the fish dinner. Darcy Chapman, Lori Wills and Jackie Tipka are on the March American Legion pot-luck birthday dinner committee. Opal Hedlund and Elaine Opsahl served a delicious lunch. The members of the American Legion also enjoyed lunch after their business meeting. Ann Hamilton, Public Relations
