The American Legion Johnson Kelly Post 483 of Kingston auxiliary members met at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, and joined the Legion Post members for the annual membership pork chop supper. After supper the auxiliary girls’ stater Maggie Hedlund and post boys’ stater Mark Benoit gave interesting reports of their activities for the week. While at state, Hedlund and Benoit participated in government and campaigned for the posts. Maggie served as an assessor for her county, and Mark as the defense department for his. Hedlund and Benoit were honored to be chosen and thankful for the opportunity to represent the Kingston American Legion and auxiliary. The business meeting then took place. New auxiliary officers are as follows: Jan Nelson, president; Mary Jane Arens, treasurer; Sandi Smith, chaplain; and Laurie Wells, sergeant-at-arms. New committee chairmen were also chosen for the annual auxiliary programs. The annual turkey dinner was discussed and scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 17. Auxiliary members assist the Legion in preparation and planning for this dinner, and the Kingston Lions will also participate. This is the first time the dinner will be sponsored by the American Legion since 2000. The lunch committee for September is Gloria Bolene and Jan Nelson.
