Kingston Auxiliary visits VA

·

Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Auxiliary volunteer members Jan Nelson, Dorothy Jensen and Ann Hamilton assisted Dawn Belle, St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center activities director, Monday, June 25, at June birthday celebration day at the VA. There were about 23 veterans present at Building 51 activities room. Dawn and the volunteers served popped corn and lemonade. Music from the 1940s was furnished by “Little Richard” and his tapes and clarinet, while he sang familiar tunes. Five of the veterans tried out their dancing skills. Cakes and cookies were furnished and served by the Kingston Auxiliary members. A veteran’s birthday and the 53rd anniversary for D.C. Nelson were celebrated for the month of June. This was an enjoyable afternoon for the veterans in Building 51 and the volunteers from the Kingston American Legion Auxiliary. The 4th of July is this week; let’s all remember our veterans, as well as our military men and women fighting for us so we can be free. We need to be thankful for the sacrifices they make for us. Let’s fly our flags high and let our soldiers know we care. The flag is a symbol of our country. We should be proud to be Americans. Ann Hamilton, pub.rel.
