The purpose of the Minnesota Girls’ State program are to provide citizenship training for girls in their junior year of high school; to inform them about the duties, privileges, rights and responsiblilities of American citizenship in order they may understand and participate in the functioning of their government; and to help them grasp the meaning of some of the responsibilities which they must assume when they become adults. The objectives: to develop leadership and pride in government; to instill a greater understanding of American traditions: to stimulate a desire to maintain our democratic government processes.
