Kingston Legion, Auxiliary meets

Members of Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post 483 Legion Auxiliary and Post Legion met for their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Kingston Legion Hall. The auxiliary meeting was called to order by president Barbara Root. Chaplain Sandi Smith opened with prayers; Pledge of Allegiance was recited; the Star Spangled Banner was sung; and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary repeated. Secretary Judy Compton took roll call and read the minutues of the past meeting. The treasurer’s report was given, reports and communications read, and new business was discussed: a community service for veterans, volunteers for veterans at St. Cloud Medical Center by Kingston and area children; volunteering by members – Birthday Monday in Building 51 and participating in activities and serving refreshments to veterans; and Girl’s State delegates. March is Americanism Youth Month. High school   students in good standing in grades 10-12 are eligible to apply and write essays. The theme is “Freedom Isn’t Free.” There will be a conference in Valley Forge, Pa., March 8-11. March is also Birthday Month for members of the American Legion.  Let us salute our veterans and heroes. Let’s make a difference. Our March meeting will be held Tuesday, March 27, with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. and business meetings at 7:30 p.m. The annual Kingston Johnson Kelly Post and Kingston Lions fish fry will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Kingston Community Center. Let’s remember our veterans, heroes and our fighting servicement and women all over the world, who are fighting for us to keep our country free. They need our support. Ann Hamilton, Pub.Rel.
