Kingston Lions celebrated their 30th anniversary at their regular November meeting. In attendance were five of the eight charter members that are still members of the club. They include: Junice Anderson, Steve Dille, Gary Grossinger, Robert Hermann, John Juusola, Kenneth Myllykangas, Orlin Olson, and Wally Strand. Motto of the Lions is “We Serve” and over the past 30 years the club has been able to assist many people with various needs in the local community,  as well as to help with local community projects and various Minn. and International Lions projects. For example in the 2018 year, the club gave a total of $9,200: $5,600 to various needs, and $300 to each of seven persons suffering from cancer, and every year gave three $500 scholarships to seniors from Dassel-Cokato , Kimball, and Litchfield Schools. Ongoing projects have been flagpoles and flags sales, rental of tents, and tables and chairs.

In addition, each year a fishing contest has been held in February at Lake Francis. The first fishing contest was held shortly after the club was incorporated so this will be the 30th annual fishing contest. Some other fundraisers have been various meals, concerts; and  a variety of fundraisers. After thirty years, the club expresses appreciation to the community for their support of all the club’s activities. Current officers are: (president) John Juusola, (secretary) Joann Strand, and (treasurer) Sandy Smith. The club is always looking for new members. Meeting night is the third Thursday of each month at the Kingston Community Center.
