Koutsky to speak at Cokato Historical Society Annual Meeting

·

Linda Koutsky, co-author of the popular new book, Minnesota Eats Out: An Illustrated History, will be the featured speaker at the 2004 Cokato Historical Society Annual Meeting. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Centennial Room of the library/museum building. (Attendees are asked to use the library entrance to the building.) Published this past September by the Minnesota Historical Society Press and now in its third printing, Minnesota Eats Out is an enlivening tour of the state’s countless roadside cafes, coffee shops, drive-ins and elegant restaurants. Each page is filled with photos, recipes and amusing quotes. Five photos from the Cokato Museum’s collections are in the book, along with a recipe for banana bread from Cokato-resident Emma May who owned the downtown Cokato restaurant, the Pantry, in the 1930s. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the meeting. Co-sponsor for the meeting is Daniel’s Family Restaurant in Cokato. Pam Braatz, owner of Daniel’s, has donated a $25 gift certificate to raffle. Tickets are $1 per chance and are available at both Daniel’s and the museum. This meeting is free and open to the public. You do not have to be a historical society member to attend. The society’s annual meeting will precede Koutsky’s presentation.
