Lady Cubs in post-season action

The Kimball softball team played in the Section 6AA Championship Bracket quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 23, against St. Cloud Cathedral, at River’s Edge Softball Complex in Waite Park. Having lost that contest, 5-3, the Cubs then took on Eden Valley-Watkins, and defeated the Eagles, 12-0, in the next round.

SCC game

The St. Cloud Cathedral game was a heart-breaker for Kimball, as they lost the lead late in a 5-3 defeat. The game was tied at 3, with SCC batting in the top of the seventh, when they rallied for two runs. 

Claire Maus took the loss for the Cubs. She surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out five. 

Riley Fischer led Kimball with two hits in three at-bats.

EV-W game

Riley Fischer shut down Eden Valley-Watkins, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Kimball to the 12-0 victory. 

Sami Winter led the Cubs, driving in four runs and going 3-for-3 at the plate. She posted multiple RBI on a home run in the second, and a double in the third. 

Fischer took the win, going five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, and striking out eight. 

Kimball hitters racked up 15 hits.
