The Cubs outlasted Foley on Thursday, 59-48, and they rolled over Paynesville, 68-38, on Friday.
(Foley Game) Foley closed the Cubs?Äô lead to 25-24 with 4:36 remaining in the first half, but Kimball went on a 12-5 to take a 35-27 halftime bulge. The Cubs led the entire game, and despite Foley?Äôs tenacity, Kimball never let the Falcons get closer than six points.
?ÄúThis was a good game for us in non-conference play, as they are a better team than their record indicated. They play a lot of tough teams in a highly-competitive Granite Ridge Conference. I liked how we handled their full court pressure and how we were able to slow down their fast paced tempo just enough to stay in control of the game,?Äù said Coach Jeremy Kuechle. Cubs?Äô Scoring: Kenzie Leither 10; Madison Hurrle 18; Ashley Schindele 11; Katie Merchant 11; Caitlin O?ÄôBrien 5; Erin O?ÄôBrien 4.
(Paynesville Game) Kimball never trailed in the contest, opening up the game on a 17-3 run and never looking back. Kimball led 36-22 at halftime.
?ÄúIt was our third game this week and tonight was a back-to-back performance, so we wanted to bring intensity and pressure to create offense. The girls played well and put the game away early. I liked how we were able to score after beating their pressure. I was also impressed with how we were patient attacking their 1-3-1 zone defense, which we don?Äôt see a lot,?Äù Coach Kuechle said. Cubs?Äô Scoring: Kenzie Leither 8; Madison Hurrle 14; Ashley Schindele 8; Alexa Ruehle 3; Katie Merchant 10; Katie Spaulding 2; Caitlin O?ÄôBrien 3; Katelynn Loehrer 1; Erin O?ÄôBrien 18; Julia Zipoy 1. Kimball moves to 16-2 overall (8-1 in the CMC).
