The Eden Valley-Watkins basketball girls stayed unbeaten after winning their recent holiday tournament. The event took place Thursday-Friday, Dec. 20-21, and competing teams included Moose Lake-Willow River, Osakis, Mayer Lutheran, and host school Eden Valley-Watkins. The Lady Eagles cruised through the tourney, opening-up Thursday with a low-scoring-affair victory over Mayer Lutheran, 45-23.
(Mayer Lutheran Game, 45-23) EV-W Scoring: Meryl Kuechle, 2 points; Whitney Jansen, 2 points; Brielle Kuechle, 2 points; Olivia Kuechle, 2 points; Olivia Schleper, 10 points; Halle Jansen, 9 points; McKenna Moehrle, 4 points; Emma Schultz, 14 points. Remaining resolute and determined, the EV-W girls smothered Moose Lake-Willow River, 74-36, in Friday’s finale. The Eagles clung to a meager 36-30 halftime advantage, but they turned-up the intensity and bettered the Rebels, 38-6, in the last stanza.
