River Lakes looked sharp on the ice last week, collecting a win over Willmar, 5-1, at Richmond Ice Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Shots on goal favored River Lakes, 44-18. Thursday, Dec. 15, the girls lost to Sartell/Sauk Rapids, 2-1, in an overtime battle at Bernick?Äôs Arena and losing the shots-on-goal contest, 45-17. The Willmar game was close for the first two periods, until River Lakes cut loose in the third period, erupting for four goals. Sierra Flint scored on a short-handed goal in the first period and she struck again on an unassisted goal. Alyssa Meed compounded the damage just 16 seconds later with a goal of her own. She scored the next goal as well, making it 4-0 halfway through the third period. The Stars?Äô Jaiden Deming found pay dirt 30 seconds later, on a laser-pass from Meed, and that was the ?Äúicing?Äù on the cake. RL goalie Jordyn Tomaszewski stopped 17 of 18 shots.
