Larry Wittenberg of South Haven died of a heart attack Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 54. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball with Rev. David Milz officiating. Burial followed in the Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends called from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball, and one hour prior to services at the church. A prayer wervice was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Larry Lee Wittenberg was born Aug. 11, 1949, in New Ulm to Arnold and Loretta “Laura” (Sprank) Wittenberg. He worked as a shipping technician for Ceridian Company in Plymouth and was retired. He lived in South Haven for the past 18 years. Larry married Patty (Smith) Johnson Oct. 12, 1996, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball. Larry was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a former member of the Fair Haven Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping and outdoor cooking. He loved his family and friends. His outgoing personality touched everyone’s hearts and he will be sadly missed by all. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dennis, Jack and Roger, and two step-sons. He is survived by his wife Patty of South Haven; daughters Amanda Wittenberg of South Haven, Michelle (and Clyde) Marquette of South Haven, and Megan Wittenberg of South Haven; grandson Adam Marquette of South Haven; sisters and brothers Marvel (and Charlie) Johnson of Gibbon, Vern (and Maxine) Wittenberg of Gonvick, Sandy (and John) Hatlestad of Plymouth, Pam Palmquist of Plymouth, Bob (and Linda) Wittenberg of Osseo, Jerry (and Sherry) Wittenberg of Maple Grove, and Tom Wittenberg of Chaska; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bari Engen, Dale Hanson, Stacy Huff, Clyde Marquette, Jeff Smith, Terry Smith, Dan Wittenberg and Vern Wittenberg, Jr. The organist was Deb Wittenberg.
